Friends of the Muskoka Watershed
A registered charity focused on protecting the Muskoka watershed through science-based solutions, community outreach, and policy engagement.
Science drives our solutions, so we work with Trent University School of the Environment and other post-secondary institutions. As of 2025, our main projects are <ASHMuskoka>— restoring our watershed using calcium-rich wood ash — and <SALTYMuskoka>— working to reduce excessive road salt use. We also address other issues like algal blooms.
RIVER OF KNOWLEDGE
Our team is committed to developing the knowledge and inspiring the action to protect and enhance Muskoka. World-renowned scientists drive the knowledge-generation; professional communicators and experienced administrators help turn that knowledge into action. We are volunteer board members and professional staff, academics from across the country and volunteers from the Muskoka community: together, we are working to help protect the watershed for generations to come.
